Orbit OS Community Edition License
In short: the Orbit OS Community Edition is free to use, for any purpose and on any number of devices. The terms below say what that includes and what it does not.
1. What these terms cover
These terms apply to the Orbit OS Community Edition: the installer, the Orbit OS runtime and system applications, and the system updates we publish for it (together, "Orbit OS"). Orbit OS is provided by ZeroOneTech ("we"). By installing or using Orbit OS you agree to these terms.
2. What you may do
- Install and use Orbit OS free of charge, on any number of devices.
- Use it for any purpose: personal, educational or commercial.
- Ship products that run Orbit OS, with Orbit OS installed unmodified.
- Build your own applications for Orbit OS and distribute them as you choose. Your applications are yours.
3. What you may not do
- Modify, decompile or reverse engineer Orbit OS, except where the law gives you that right regardless of these terms.
- Remove or alter its copyright notices, or bypass its security features, such as application signature checks.
- Sell, rent or sublicense Orbit OS itself as a standalone product.
- Use the Orbit OS name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse your product. To present hardware as "Orbit OS Certified", see the Hardware Certification Program.
4. SDKs, applications and third-party software
- The Orbit OS SDKs are open source under the Apache-2.0 license. That license, not these terms, applies to them.
- Applications in the Orbit OS Store are licensed by their authors. Each application states its own license.
- Orbit OS includes third-party open-source components. Those components remain under their own licenses.
5. Cloud services
The Orbit OS Store, over-the-air updates, mobile notifications and remote access are optional online services. A device works without them. Some of them need an account. We may change, limit or discontinue these services.
6. Updates
We may publish updates to Orbit OS. You decide whether and when to install them. These terms also apply to updates, unless an update comes with its own terms.
7. No warranty
Orbit OS is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You are responsible for deciding whether Orbit OS is suitable for your product, and for testing it in your product.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, ZeroOneTech is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from the use of Orbit OS.
9. Ownership
Orbit OS is licensed, not sold. ZeroOneTech keeps all rights in Orbit OS that these terms do not grant you. "Orbit OS" and the Orbit OS logo are trademarks of ZeroOneTech.
10. Ending these terms
Your rights under these terms end if you do not follow them. If that happens, you must stop using Orbit OS.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version and date at the top of this page show which terms are current. A new version applies to the versions of Orbit OS released after it.
